Straight answers before you come in.
The questions people actually ring and ask. If yours is not here, call (336) 274-4788 between 9 and 3 and ask it directly.
Pricing
How much does tax preparation cost?
Pricing depends on which forms your return actually needs. A single W-2 return costs less than a return with a business schedule, rental income or multiple states. We quote you before we start work, so you know the number in advance.
Can I pay the preparation fee out of my refund?
Yes, in many cases. We offer bank products that let qualifying clients have the preparation fee deducted from their refund instead of paying up front. Ask about it when you book.
Do you charge for a first conversation?
No. Ring the office and describe what you need. If it is a quick question we will answer it. If it needs an appointment we will book one and tell you what it will cost first.
Refunds and filing
How long does it take to get my refund?
The IRS issues most refunds within 21 days when you file electronically and choose direct deposit. Paper returns take longer, and returns claiming certain credits are held until later in the season by law.
How do I check where my refund is?
Use the IRS “Where’s My Refund?” tool. It updates once every 24 hours and needs your Social Security number, filing status and the exact refund amount.
What if I have not filed for several years?
Come in anyway. Unfiled years do not fix themselves, and the sooner they are filed the smaller the penalties tend to be. Bring whatever records you have.
Can you amend a return someone else prepared?
Yes. Bring the return as filed and any documents that were missed. We will tell you whether amending is worth it before you commit to anything.
Your appointment
What do I need to bring to my tax appointment?
Photo ID, Social Security cards for everyone listed on the return, and all your income documents — W-2s, 1099s, and business records if you are self-employed. Also last year’s return and any IRS letters.
How long does an appointment take?
A straightforward personal return is usually done in one sitting. Business returns and returns with several years of records take longer, and we will tell you what to expect when you book.
Do I need an appointment, or can I walk in?
Appointments are better, especially between January and April. Walk-ins are welcome when we have a preparer free, but booking means you are seen at a set time.
The office
Are you open outside of tax season?
Yes. The office is open Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. year round, with Saturdays by appointment. Tax questions do not stop on April 15th, and neither do we.
Can you file state returns for states other than North Carolina?
Yes. We prepare multi-state returns for clients who moved during the year, work across state lines, or earn income in more than one state.
Do you prepare returns for small businesses and LLCs?
Yes. Sole proprietors, LLCs, partnerships and small corporations, plus the bookkeeping and quarterly filings that go with them.
Where is your office and when are you open?
615 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405. Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with Saturday appointments on request. Call (336) 274-4788.
Still have a question?
