Everything we do, in one place.

Personal returns, business returns, the bookkeeping behind them, and the planning that happens before any of it. All from the same office on Summit Avenue.

01 — Individuals

Personal income tax

Individual, household and multi-state returns, prepared to get you the best result the law allows.

We prepare individual and business returns for households and small businesses across the Triad. Every return is reviewed with you line by line before it is filed, and every one is submitted electronically so your refund moves as quickly as the IRS allows.

Who this is for

  • Anyone filing a straightforward W-2 return who wants it done right and done once
  • Households with several income sources, dependants or education credits
  • People who moved during the year or work across state lines
  • Anyone who has fallen behind and needs prior years brought up to date

What to bring

Photo ID, Social Security cards for everyone on the return, and every income document you received. Bring last year’s return if you have it, plus any letter the IRS has sent you. If you are not sure whether something matters, bring it.

What this covers

  • Form 1040
  • Multi-state
  • Itemised deductions
  • Education credits
  • Amended returns
  • Prior-year filings

Small business accounting

The benefits of a large accounting firm with the attention of a neighbour who knows your name.

Most small business owners do not have an accounting problem in February. They have a bookkeeping problem from the previous May that only shows up in February. We keep the books current through the year so filing season is a review rather than a reconstruction.

What we handle

  • Bookkeeping — monthly or quarterly, kept current so nothing piles up
  • Payroll support — getting people paid correctly and on schedule
  • Quarterly filings — estimated payments and payroll returns, on time
  • Financial statements — the numbers you need for a bank or a landlord
  • W-2 and 1099 preparation — issued before the January deadline

If you are self-employed and have been keeping receipts in a shoebox, that is a normal place to start. Bring the shoebox.

What this covers

  • Bookkeeping
  • Payroll support
  • Quarterly filings
  • Financial statements
  • W-2 & 1099
  • Catch-up books

Business tax returns

Preparation for LLCs, sole proprietorships, partnerships and small corporations.

For most small business owners the business return and the personal return are the same story told twice. Filing them separately, by different people, is how deductions get missed and how numbers stop matching. We prepare both.

What we file

  • Schedule C for sole proprietors and single-member LLCs
  • Partnership returns and the K-1s that go to each partner
  • S-corporation returns, including reasonable compensation questions
  • Self-employment tax and quarterly estimated payments

Deadlines to know

S-corporation and partnership returns are due 15 March, a month before individual returns. Extended business returns are due 15 September. Penalties are charged per partner or shareholder, per month, so time genuinely matters here.

What this covers

  • Schedule C
  • Partnership returns
  • K-1 preparation
  • S-corporation
  • Self-employment tax
  • Late filings

04 — Planning

Tax planning

Decisions made in June change what you owe in April. We plan the moves while they still count.

By the time you sit down to file, almost everything that determines your bill has already happened. Tax planning is the work of getting to that appointment with fewer things you wish you had done differently.

What we look at

  • Estimated payments — set to avoid penalties without overpaying all year
  • Withholding — a mid-year review so April holds no surprises
  • Retirement contributions — what you can still put away, and by when
  • Equipment purchases — timing that actually changes the outcome
  • Entity selection — whether your structure still fits your income
  • Life changes — marriage, a child, a house, a business started or sold

What this covers

  • Estimated payments
  • Withholding review
  • Year-end planning
  • Entity selection
  • Retirement
  • Equipment timing
